It’s been many years ago, but it remains fresh in my mind. I had been bitten by a brown recluse spider. I was told by medical personnel that I could lose my led – but God told me to trust Him. After several days of standing in faith, watching symptoms grow worse, I cried out to God and He heard my voice. He led me to take communion that night. I went to bed with a leg twice the size of my other leg. With fever so high in that leg that I couldn’t stand to touch it, even with sheets. I awoke the next morning with every symptom gone – completely healed. The only thing that remained was a small speck where the actual bite took place.
Communion is powerful!
When we take communion, we align ourselves with the body and blood of Jesus. In communion, we remember and receive the fullness of what Jesus did on the cross.
Jesus said, Do this in remembrance of Me, in 1 Cor. 11:24.
The word communion means partnership, participation, intercourse, and fellowship. From the definition alone, we see the depth of intimacy in communion. It is a time when we become ONE with Jesus and what He did at the cross. It is also called the Cup of Blessing, which means the seal of the covenant. We understand how a seal works. It covers and protects what is inside. It lets nothing of the outside, in.

1 Corinthians 10:16 says, The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, it is not the communion of the body of Christ?
What this scripture is saying is when we drink of the communion cup, whether you use grape juice or wine, you are drinking, becoming one with, fellowshipping with and becoming a partner with the blood of Christ and all it purchased at the cross.
When we eat the bread, we are becoming one with, fellowshipping with and becoming a partner with the body of Christ. We are partnering with the healing and wholeness He purchased for us. In communion we partner with prosperity, healing, wholeness, soundness of mind and every other thing Jesus took back at the cross. We partner with ultimate victory! That is good news!
And we remember Him. The One who purchased victory for us. We honor Him in communion. It’s a time when all He completed on that day is once again sealed for us. God wants us to recall the words of Jesus, “It is finished.” That is exactly what He showed me that night – my healing – it was already finished, and I sealed that truth by partaking of communion. Make communion a part of your daily life. Don’t save this powerful practice for certain Sundays at church. NO! Make it a part of your daily, weekly, personal walk with God. It will make a huge difference. I know it did for me.
